Prayer Counseling

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish it work so you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. – James 1:2-4NIV

Encouraging people to become fully devoted followers to Christ by assisting them in the midst of life's difficulties.

You have heard it said that adversity is inevitable but misery is optional. Times of difficulty need not be filled with despair. Such times can serve as catalysts that move us to experience the greater joy of the Christian life. Prayer Counseling at HCCC has its model as the earthly ministry of Christ, who healed and comforted those in need while challenging them to follow Him. Christ ministered to some who subsequently chose not to follow Him. In the same way, we seek to minister to those in need, realizing that some will become fully devoted followers of Christ and others will not. Like Christ, we seek to be unlimited in our compassion and unapologetic with the truth of His message.

Lay Prayer Counseling Ministry
Our lay prayer counselors have completed a certificate program in biblical ministry and each has spiritual gifts related to effective people-helping. They see individuals or couples for a limited number of sessions and then make appropriate referrals.

Support Groups
Support groups are available for many common problems and new groups are forming. Call the Counseling Ministry office or visit for the most up-to-date list.

Healing Life's Hurts
Pastoral Ministry is available for addressing a wide range of problems: marital conflict, parenting, anxiety, depression, sexual problems, spiritual confusion, and more. Donations are suggested on household income with a maximum of $60 per session.

To schedule an appointment, call the church office at (919)850-9937. Appointments are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, and if no appointment is available at the time you request, your name may be placed on a waiting list.

Due to sensitive nature of information discussed in prayer counseling sessions, preserving your confidentiality is a priority with us. When you meet with your counselor the first time, you will sign a consent form that explains the rules regarding privileged information.

If you know that you will be unable to keep your appointment, please notify the counseling office as soon as possible so we can make that time available to someone else.

Unless your child is being seen by the counselor, please do not bring your children to the session. At this time, we are unable to offer childcare during counseling sessions

Suggested Donation
Take your gross annual household income and subtract $15,000. Multiply that amount by .001. The maximum is $60 per session regardless of income. Example: If your household income is $40,000 per year, subtract $15,000 for an adjusted amount of $25,000. Multiply $25,000 by .001, which is $25. You would donate $25 per session.

If special circumstances render you unable to donate the calculated amount, please let us know and we will adjust your amount. No one will be refused services based on an inability to donate.
